Hello all! I’m so excited to share with you today’s project!
I’ve had a deep and abiding love for vintage sheets for some time now, which you probably know if you’ve visited here any length of time. :) I have used them for all sorts of little projects, but I wanted to do something big with them – and I’m finally getting to show my new Vintage Sheet Charm Square Quilt today!
Since vintage sheet fabrics are usually colorful florals, plaids and stripes, I wanted for this first (and yes, I must make more!) quilt to be pretty simple and just let the fabrics shine. So the quilt is a simple charm square quilt!
If you’re not familiar with a charm square, it’s just a 5″ square of fabric. It’s a great quilt to make for beginner, all you have to do is so the squares together in a row, then sew the rows together. Easy peasy!
I backed it with one of my favorite sheets and I used a fun little plaid sheet for the binding. It’s sooo soft and I am crazy in love with it!
The quilting is an allover floral done by my regular quilter – Julie Williams, she always does an amazing job!
A lot of people have asked where I get my vintage sheets and I’ll share my secret with you. ;) I look everywhere! Thrift shops, antique shops, barn sales, Etsy, Ebay and my favorite vintage Instagram shops. If I see them, I pick them up! You never know when you’ll need to make another quilt. Which for me will be very soon!!
Don’t you love it?! Have you ever made a charm square quilt? I’d love to hear about it!
