When I started quilting more this year, I just knew that I wanted to make a Christmas quilt. In fact, I’d love to make a new Christmas quilt every couple of years, so before long I have a bunch of them to pull out for the holidays! I’m pretty much down to the wire with this one but I finished this new colorful Christmas Quilt just in time!
I’m so in love with how bright and colorful it is! I used the Garland line from Cotton and Steel (aff link) and I’m so glad I did! If you’re not familiar with Cotton and Steel, their fabrics tend to be colorful, quirky, and a lot of them have a retro feel so they’re definitely right up my alley. This line has all sorts of vintage prints – little ornaments, frolicking deer, and even little gnome Santas!
The pattern I used was the City Blocks quilt from the Etsy shop, sweetjane. It’s a great beginner pattern and it sews up really quickly. I love that you can really let the fabrics shine and see the prints. I had it quilted by my regular quilter, Julie’s Longarm Quilting, and she did a fabulous job as always! We did an all over tree pattern on it that you can really see in the closeups. I think it looks so fun with the tree prints in the line!
I’m so happy that I finished it in time for Christmas! Now I need to put my feet up with some cocoa and It’s a Wonderful Life and relax!!
I’d love to know – have you made a Christmas quilt? Tell us about it in the comments!
