How’s that for a generic title?
I am not too big on resolutions. They stress me out a bit.
But I also don’t really want to meander through the year either – I figure if I don’t make a goal to get somewhere – I probably won’t get anywhere.
Pretty profound huh? ;) I should make a printable. or not.
So I have some “Goals”. Loose plans of things I’d like to do this year. I figure if I share them with you, that will:
1) Give me a reference to check back with
2) Make me less likely to pretend that they don’t exist.
And these are all blog/crafting/creative related. You can safely assume that I also want to clean my house more, lose weight, and own more cute shoes this year. But that is a whole different post.
Ready?
1. I want to use my serger more. This little baby scares the tar out of me. For no good reason really.
I would like to make more clothes this year – and this is the perfect tool. I need to be brave – and not be so afraid I’m going to cut my fingers off. That hasn’t ever happened right?
2. I want to make more of other people’s tutorials. I never really make time to do that – even though I love them and pin them and think they’re awesome. To be honest – I felt like maybe you wouldn’t like to keep reading if I didn’t have new stuff all the time. But I’m kind of trying to relax a bit. You’ll still love me if I make other people’s projects occasionally right? I hope so.
Plus – that’s kind of the whole idea behind Pinterest isn’t it? Not just to be forever pinning and not making like I’ve been doing?? :)
Either way – here are some projects on my ’12 list :
If you click on the images, you will go to my pins – you can then find the sites from there.
This is just a wee sampling. But these are my starting point.
3. I want to be positive. I want Flamingo Toes to be a fun place. A place that encourages you and makes you glad you came by. I want to try more to support other bloggers and crafters and make more friendships and grow the friendships I have.
This sounds sappy. But I really want to try and communicate how much fun this blog is for me. And how much fun I have connecting with all of you. I hope that comes across.
4. I want to be brave this year. I have big dreams. Like B.I.G.
Things I want that I’m afraid to tell you about because I don’t want to jinx them. haha. Plus – if they never happen then I’m the only one that knows. That’s safe right?
Well, I don’t want to play it safe anymore. mostly. So here goes.
I want to write a book. A crafting book.
I can’t believe I just typed that. Please be kind.
I’m tired of wishing. and being afraid. And as trite as it sounds, I’m tired of not trying. So this year is the year. I’m going to submit a book proposal. And if it is rejected, I’m going to submit another one. And if it doesn’t ever work . . . . I’ll cry. But I’ll also not be sitting around wondering either.
5. Keep on, keeping on.
I have grand plans for more jewelry tutorials, some room renovations around here, sewing projects and lots more. I am so excited about this year and all the projects and parties and fun!
So that’s not too overwhelming. Some fun goals – and dreams – to focus on and give me and the blog some direction. I’m so looking forward to it all!
Thanks so much for your support. It really does mean the world to me. :)

I love your blog. I look forward to your book. I’m stealing your big dream quote. I will look for you on pinterest.

I am new to your blog, but have looked around (pinning as I go) and love it here!
Your goals are very similar to mine, minus book writting – that one still scares me!
It will be fun to follow along and see where you are, and with your great attitude and blog, keep me on the right path!

YOU do inspire so many of us! You have made your blog a place I enjoy hanging out at and I always take away a smile, a good laugh and some crafty inspiration. My friend, don’t waste the talent that God has blessed you with… Follow your passion and write that book! Looking foward to having lots of crafty fun in 2012! AJ@queenofmynest

I wish you lots of success on all of your goals. You have inspired me and many others. You are a natural for a craft book.
I have used your jewelry tutorials and they are so clear and easy to follow. If I could return the favour in any way I would be happy to. I LOVE my serger. I use it almost daily. I know so many women who are afraid of their serger. Don’t be. The worst that can happen is you cut some fabric. I have sewn through my finger and nail with an industrial sewing machine, twice! But I have never hurt myself on the serger. If you need some help, let me know.

I think your goals are awesome. I think you SHOULD make stuff YOU want to make! And, you could even do a Pinterest “Show and Tell” sometimes with the original inspiration and then the one you created. Guaranteed they will not be the same because we all have different creative personalities!
And a craft book would be amazing! I have thoroughly enjoyed your tutorials and have a lot more pinned to try!

I like goals rather than resolutions which I’m told by husband is the same, but nit to me, they are things I write on a list and can cross off. I think you would write an awesome tutorial craft book, you have the writing skills, Go For It!!!

BIG things may be happening for me too, I’m going to say yes to everything this year, no more thinking “I can’t DO that”.
wishing you all the best!

I think your goals are great! I just recently discovered your blog through Pellon. They’ve also asked me to become part of their Artist program. So I just wanted to stop by and wish you good luck on all your goals! With God’s grace…I’m sure you’ll persevere!!

You can do it! I’m excited that you are reaching to do good in this world- and, hey, I know you’re gonna get a craft book published! I would totally buy it!
I think that if you don’t get an actual published book you could make an e-book and try that, too.

Karen Perdew says
Yes! I will buy your craft book. I have no doubt that you will get published. Your blog is very inspiring and uplifting. I think you have already accomplished so much on your list. Flamingo Toes is my favorite read and one of the reasons is that you feature so many talented people and their work in addition to your own.
Thanks for the wonderful blog!

I always enjoy your blog. If you make projects not originally yours (what;s the difference between that and a knock-off?) it’s still got YOU in it. I understand your fear of having written you want to write a book. That commitment in print would scare me, for sure! But I think you’ll succeed. I’ve bookmarked your projects to do myself. A book’s worth would be awesome.

Good for you, keep on keeping on. I Love your blog. I get inspired. I too have a serger that I bought years ago and have never used. Don’t even know where it is (we’ve moved a few times since I bought it). This Spring we’re going to go thru our shed (eeeeekkk nightmare) and I sure hope I find it and didn’t give in to daughter and husband by giving it away. It’s time to learn how to use the darned thing. I do sew when my sewing room isn’t too much of a disaster.
Love your honesty and humor. Keep it up ok we all need you. Your blog is fun, humorous and lots of other good things for all of us. Good luck on your book.

Good blog. Keep them coming.

Bev, you are such a great Crafter, creative thinker, writer, and person already! Why not share more of that in 2012? Go after your goals! You inspire us “little guys” :)

Sounds like some great goals for the new year.
Good luck and I can’t wait to hear all of the details.

Yay! I think the only reason you wouldn’t get a book deal is that Anthro would block it because they’ll lose money when we all start making our own jewelry! I used several of your tutes for Christmas presents…have yet to post pics anywhere but they were well received. :)
Natalie says
You shouldn’t be afraid to mention that you want to write a craft book because your crafts rock! I would love to see the kinds of things you would put in a book! Btw great goals, LOVE them!

Yay, Bev! I am very sure there is going to be a book with your name on it. It’s WAY past time! Hope you keep us in the loop every once in a while on the progress, because it’s inspiring.
