Are you doing anything at the last-minute? Like me? :)
There is no wrapping done here – gifts are not finished – and I may have finished decorating my mantel a just a couple days ago.
Not that I have procrastinated this year or anything. lol!!
It’s been fun to make some new things this year – things were getting a little sad!
I wanted to create some cute, unique items for my mantel – and I think this fabric art is perfect for that.
Here is my new Canvas Art – this Stylish Christmas Deer Silhouette!
Isn’t he handsome? ;)
It’s been a while since I played with fabric and Mod Podge – I forgotten how fun and easy it is!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
1 Canvas art board – mine is 12 x 16
fabrics – three different fabrics for base, deer and bow
Jumbo rick rack for edging
hot glue
Mod Podge
Begin by covering your artboard with your base fabric. Brush on a layer of Mod Podge, then lay your fabric on that and smooth out all the bubbles.
Brush another layer of Mod Podge on top of that.
Wrap the extra fabric around to the back and Mod Podge it down as well.
Cut out a deer silhouette. I used linen for mine.
There are lots of clip art shapes out there – just resize one you like to fit your canvas.
Mod Podge your deer to the canvas just like you did before, with a layer of Mod Podge under the deer, then a layer on top.
Cut out a snazzy little bow to dress him up. Mod Podge it on.
I got the idea for this part from an awesome pendant that April has over at Funky Vintage Lovely.
It’s a darling deer sporting a bow tie. I emailed April and asked if I could use the idea for my artwork and she said yes, because she’s awesome like that. :)
Hot glue an edging of rick rack to the back side of the canvas, so half the rick rack shows over the edge of the canvas.
That finishes him off!! Pretty quick right?
I’m pretty much in love.
I hope you like him!!
So how are you doing? All ready for the big day?

I love this guy, Bev! Its such a fun idea, and I love the fabric choices.
Gifts are getting wrapped here, but only because I’m procrastinating on making others. :)

Love the deer—and you are way ahead of me—I had Christmas gifts that haven’t even been started yet! It will take a miracle to finish all that I have to do before Sunday morning!
