Super Cool Lightscoop Giveaway!

I am so excited to share this giveaway with you!

I am by no means a camera expert. I love to take photos – and I’m slowly learning what makes a nice shot.
One of those things is Natural light.
It makes such a huge difference – so much that I stopped taking pictures in the evenings – especially for tutorials.
The flash washes out the color and creates such harsh shadows!

But now I’ve found this great tool – and I am so excited about it.
It is called the Lightscoop.

Have you heard of it?
It’s this little mirrored reflector that sits over your SLR’s existing Flash.

The Lightscoop reflects the light from your flash to reduce the harsh shadows and make the lighting much more natural.
Here – they have a handy dandy illustration that shows you.

See? The light bounces off the ceiling or wall and creates a more natural looking light – like daytime!

Let me show you some examples of why I love this so much.
To show you how cool this little gadget is – I took all these at night. No natural light anywhere.
They’re also completely unedited – the photos are straight out of the camera.

I have complained before about how hard it is to take photos in my living room. There are NO windows. So even in the daytime – photos are dark and fuzzy.
Check out this grouping. You can see how bright and obnoxious the flash photo is – and the shadows are so bad that you can’t even tell there’s a bird in the birdcage.
Withthe Lightscoop though – the last photo looks like I took it midday.

Same goes with photos for tutorials or my Etsy shop. Before, they all had to be during the day.
This set I took outside – full dark. I bounced the flash off the side of the house.
You can see without a flash at all I couldn’t get a clear picture.
It’s still amazing to me how much the last picture looks like natural light!

This also works great for animals. I’d like to introduce you to Xray.
I have absolutely no idea why he graced me with this little photo shoot – especially when I took the “flash” photos.
With the Lightscoop his coloring is right and his eyes don’t have glares or weird flares.
Oh. He’s so cute. Especially since he isn’t destroying the roll of toilet paper.

One of my favorite uses is for shots of people. Here’s my pretty girl to show you.
This corner of the room is so dark that I couldn’t get a “Without Flash” shot that was anywhere near decent.
And the flash is crazy bright. You can hardly see her features.
But the Lightscoop shot looks so natural! Love that smile. ;)

The amazing thing is that this is so easy!
All you have to do is pop the Lightscoop on your camera and follow the guidelines they provide for setting it up.

I have played with it quite a bit to learn which settings work for the lighting that I’m in – but that’s been so fun.
It’s nice to get my camera off of Auto!

Amazingly enough – the Lightscoop is only $29.95!!!

Such a reasonable price for a HUGE difference.

I’d love a lightscoop for the pictures I take for my blog. I often craft at night after the little ones are in bed. I’m forced to use my flash a lot. I would love something like this. Oh, and of course to take better photos of my family too. =]

I’d love a lightscoop because I hate using the flash but most of our special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) are in the fall so we’re always inside and I’m forced to use a flash. A lightscoop would be amazing!!
