You all know by now that I love a good knockoff.
Lately I have been eyeing all the fabulous trophy art out there.
Here are some examples of the awesomeness that is animal heads sticking out of your wall.

These are all great examples, but not “me”.
So I started brainstorming about what would be a good representative of me – and Flamingo Toes.
There was no contest – it had to be a Flamingo!
Nothing says style, class, and panache like a plastic lawn flamingo wearing a tutu hanging on your wall.
Ready to make one too? I have a quick, easy tutorial for you.
You’ll need:
Half a plastic lawn flamingo
Tulle
Ribbon
Wooden Plaque
Spray Paint
I started by spray painting the plaque a nice vibrant pink.
While that’s drying, let’s do a little Flamingo Surgery.
I used a saw to cut the neck and head off.
My garage looked like CSI-Retirement Miami.
After the amputation, hot glue the neck to the wooden plaque.
I felt that it still needed a little “something”. I thought a tiny tutu would be perfect.
Measure around the neck of the flamingo and cut a piece of elastic that length. Sew the elastic into a loop.
Cut your tulle into strips twice the length of the tutu. Mine are about 5″ long.
Fold the netting in half and loop it around the elastic.
Pull the knot tight.
Keep knotting the tulle pieces around the elastic until the tutu is as full as you’d like.
Glue the tutu around the neck of the flamingo right up against the plaque. Add a fun bow to the top for extra snazziness.
I found this furry zebra ribbon at Michaels. I thought it brought just the right touch.
And that’s it! Super easy trophy art!
He’s kinda sly. I like it.
What do you think? I think it makes quite a statement. ;)
For some other fabulous posts today – check out Crafterhours.
They have a creative tutorial today and right below that they’ve assembled a great list for you. ;)
Also, check back tonight for the Crush of the Week!

Oh my – lol. It is perfect for you! Lol….this was exactly what I needed to start my day with, cracked me up :)
I love it!
U R 2 funny…and creative! My niece has plans of making me one of these for Christmas (she likes to plan ahead) to hang over my fireplace. I was thinking of picking up the zebra theme and adding a zebra stripe rug. Maybe a black “furry” sofa. Oh, this is so fun =)
that is hilarious bev – where did you put it?!
So cute!
Seriously adorable…you are so clever…
I was soooo hoping you did the Anthro knock off but instead I had a really nice giggle! It’s perfect for you!!!!!
big smile
I LOVE it!! We argue about the real animal heads hanging on the wall….it creeps me out. I understand that I married a gun lovin’ redneck animal huntin’ to feed the family boy…..but I have issues with the eyes. All of these are right up my alley!!
Clever as always, Bev. One of the many things I admire about your creativity is your range. You’re definitely not a one-trick-pony (or flamingo!).
this flamingo made my day from gray to pink! :) d.

Oh Bev, you had me cracking up at this : Nothing says style, class, and panache like a plastic lawn flamingo wearing a tutu hanging on your wall.
And I love your trophy!!
Made my day. So funny but I actually like it alot. I couldn’t imagine where you were going. You are so creative. xo
OH MY FANTABULOUS!
This is too funny! Love it.
made my morning!
Okay I love this. Part of what drew me to your blog is the name. I scrapbook with a couple of girls and we were given the name of The FlaminGals…we currently have an inflatable flamingo as our mascot (Plastico Flamingo! LOL!) This would be such a fab and fun gift to make for each of my girls…we are always on the look out for fun flamingo favors! I have a pic of me and my FlaminGals on my blog here: Fun with my FlaminGals
Thanks for the great idea!
very kewl..!
fantastic!! ADORABLE!
So classy. I love fine art. Please tell me you’re keeping this up in a prominent area of your home. I want it to be the first thing guests see when they walk in.
Actually Adrianna that’s exactly where it is. Entry way wall. I want people to know exactly what kind of style I have as soon as they walk in the door. ;)
that is so awesome that you have it in the entryway! lol! bev, you have to be one of the most creative people i “know.” your creations are always so fun!
Oh my goodness Bev! Too classy for words. And I love the pink and black – you need to pull your halloween wreath out of the closet for this one!
Girl….I love ya. That’s all I can say.
Beverly,
