You all know by now that I love a good knockoff.
Lately I have been eyeing all the fabulous trophy art out there.
Here are some examples of the awesomeness that is animal heads sticking out of your wall.

These are all great examples, but not “me”.
So I started brainstorming about what would be a good representative of me – and Flamingo Toes.
There was no contest – it had to be a Flamingo!
Nothing says style, class, and panache like a plastic lawn flamingo wearing a tutu hanging on your wall.
Ready to make one too? I have a quick, easy tutorial for you.
You’ll need:
Half a plastic lawn flamingo
Tulle
Ribbon
Wooden Plaque
Spray Paint
I started by spray painting the plaque a nice vibrant pink.
While that’s drying, let’s do a little Flamingo Surgery.
I used a saw to cut the neck and head off.
My garage looked like CSI-Retirement Miami.
After the amputation, hot glue the neck to the wooden plaque.
I felt that it still needed a little “something”. I thought a tiny tutu would be perfect.
Measure around the neck of the flamingo and cut a piece of elastic that length. Sew the elastic into a loop.
Cut your tulle into strips twice the length of the tutu. Mine are about 5″ long.
Fold the netting in half and loop it around the elastic.
Pull the knot tight.
Keep knotting the tulle pieces around the elastic until the tutu is as full as you’d like.
Glue the tutu around the neck of the flamingo right up against the plaque. Add a fun bow to the top for extra snazziness.
I found this furry zebra ribbon at Michaels. I thought it brought just the right touch.
And that’s it! Super easy trophy art!
He’s kinda sly. I like it.
What do you think? I think it makes quite a statement. ;)

Had to write and ask Why stop at just one!? Just think of a wall full of flamingo trophies? I am of course assuming that the rest of our little friends bodies are just hanging out on the otherside of the wall. I just can’t let my little pink brain conjure up the image of decapitated flamingo bodies lying around everywhere. Oh, the humanity! Yes I prefer to think of their other halves doing a strange version of the can-can just behind that wall.
Girl, I have finally found someone that loves flamingos as much as I do. Love your site and the tutorial. Keep up the great work, and God bless you.
I LOVE this! My daughters room is done in camoflauge with pink accents, what is more perfect than a mounted flamingo!
Where did you get your flamingo??? All of the ones I can find have yellow beaks and not white like this one. I love this one so much more! :)
This is so stinkin’ fabulous! :)
LOVE , LOVE, LOVE this!!! it is so me! Hubby will hate it, lol.
