Crush of the Week . . . and some Questions

Happy Friday!!

Can you believe we are almost at the end of February? My goodness.
Before we know it we’ll be making beach cover ups and burying our toes in the sand. I’m ok with that though. :)

As always – there is a TON of inspiration out there in blogland – and I want to show you just a teeny portion of it!

It’s time for the Crush of the Week!

First up is this super adorable ruffle pouch by Just Sew Sassy.

I have a weakness for anything handbag-y – and this is no exception!! They have a great, easy tutorial too! Love it.

I was absolutely blown away by this car mat over at Cook Clean Craft!

This amazing mat folds up into a little house with a handle. Can you believe all the details she put into this? So sweet!

Check out this darling table runner from A Girl and a Glue Gun

It’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and I love that ruffle fabric. You have to go over and check out her glitter applying technique for the cute shamrock on the table too! ;)

How awesome are these textured letters over at Little Things Bring Smiles?

I think the combination of the wood and moss that she used turned out fantastic.
I think I’m going to have to cover something with moss this weekend.

Someday I am going to have a sewing room. That doesn’t double as a dining room. ha.
When I do – I’m going to put up some fun artwork like this that Living with Punks created.

Isn’t it eyecatching?? She did another one with zippers that is just as cute – you can check it out here.

Are you inspired?? I sure am. ;)

If you were featured and would like a button – they’re over on the sidebar.

So I have a few quick questions for you this bright sunny Friday. (Is it sunny? I hope so.)

I don’t want to start a linky party debate – but I have some questions.
I’ve been considering starting a party. Considering being the operative word there.
Here are my thoughts and then I’d love to hear what you think.
1. I love linking at parties. It is a FANTASTIC way to get your blog out there and be “found”.
With all the blogs – and it seems like there are thousands – I think this is the best way to help other people find your creations and ideas. Having a party would be a fun way to see all your ideas and help you get your creations out there.
2. I love looking through links and highlighting fabulous projects – like I do every Friday. Having a link party would be a natural extension of that I think.
3. I’m a little worried they’re a lot of work. I see people inviting others to link up at their parties – and I’m not sure if I want to do that.
4. I’m also a little worried if I don’t invite people no one will link up and then I will be sad. ;(

So obviously I’m torn and wishy-washy. ha.

Now for your thoughts:
1. Do you think the world needs another party or are there enough?
2. Would you link up here or are you already committted to all your parties?
3. If I were to do it – is there a day you would like?

I’d really like to hear what you think – since I don’t know what I’m doing yet it won’t bother me at all if you say, “Bad Idea” ;)

So what do you think?

I love link parties, for all of the reasons you state above. But it does get to be a bit of work.

If you do decide, the one day I find most lacking in link parties is Tuesday.

    Good luck!

First of all, thank you so much for featuring my Textured Letters. Happy Friday :) I really appreciate you help direct some traffic my way! I love link parties and only recently discovered them so I would totally be on board for yours. It’s up to you! Mondays and Wednesday are the days I found do not have a lot, but please remember I am new at this so there are probably so many more out there in the blogging world. Whatever you do will be the right decision! Have a great weekend!

Having a linky party is a great thing it enables so many people to come together (and eventually project their work). But if you think its all too much work then you can reduce the no. of entries coming in therby reducing time that you spend sorting them – is to give categories. For examples people can only link posts that are related to jewelry or sewing or table decorations(insert ur own categories here) and not posts about themselves or their pets or random stuff. Now it becomes like a theme party and maybe if you want you can change the theme every month. Maybe a tutorial (where everybody puts up only tutorials), maybe a recycled jewelry party…something like will be different and exclusive. Also I dont think there are any parties on weekends or Saturday or Sunday would be my pick.

  • Oooh, I LOVE the textured letters!

    As for the questions…
    1. I think there can always be more linky parties! AND people love you and love Flamingo Toes, so I’m sure you wouldn’t have to do much “inviting” people would totally show up!
    2. I would absolutely link up!! And I would of course share it with my readers because they love linky parties too.
    3. This is just a personal preference, but it doesn’t seem like there’s very many on Thursday/Friday. Most of them seem to fall at the beginning of the week and then things kind of lose steam towards the end of the week.

    That’s just my 2 cents! :)

I’d link up! Any day works for me – I just scroll through my google reader next button thing and when a link party pops up, I jump right in – –

Love the crushes this week! That moss and wood… wow!!

I’m about link partied out, BUT I can see the need to do it (the linking up part, I mean). It definitely brings in new people and keeps my stats up. Features from the parties help a lot, too! That being said, you KNOW I would link up to your party. ;) And I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have to beg people to come over. It might take a couple of weeks, but I think you could generate a fairly large link up. And you can always leave the “come link up” comment on new blogs you would visit anyway.

Sundays and Thursdays seem to be my slower party days. I know Thursday wouldn’t help much with crush day being on Friday though.

I’m excited for you if you decide to start one!

I love your blog!!! We are playing a game and I have awarded 15 of my favorite blogs (you’re one, obviously) a “Versitile Blogger” award! Come by to play! :) Btw, I’m crushin’ on them too!

I love Link parties but I think there are so many of them and so many bloggers. It feels like alot of people just put their stuff on them and don’t look around. I know with their being so many to join, I have that problem. But if you should decide, I think Wed. are lacking.

I’m still trying to figure out the whole link party thing. I like the idea of having a theme instead of a bunch of random things to look at. I do ocassionally check them out but then it becomes overwhelming when there are too many entries. I would definitely check out yours though.

Since Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday have already been suggested, I will be difficult and say Saturday!
I think a tutorial linky party would be awesome. A “make it this weekend” type thing, where each blogger contributes a free tutorial or pattern. It could be themed every week – for the home, kids, accessories, etc.

Linkys are great. I know you will have a lot of links without much advertising to do. I will for sure link up if you decide to go for it :)

  • Reply February 25, 2011

    1. You should DEFINITELY make a linky party! I love looking thru people’s posts and getting ideas.
    2. I would probably link up. I’ve never linked up to any parties before but there’s a first for everything!
    3. I don’t think there’s one specific day that I would choose. Any day is perfect for a party.

I would link up to any linky party you host, Bev!

Thanks so much for the feature! As far as linkys go, there are alot out there, but like you said, it is a way to see what’s people are making and draw inspiration! I would love it if you made a linky party for the Anthro Neckalce week, that way people can link up the necklaces they learned from your tutes, or just a neckalce they have made from knocking off anthro…it definitley got my creative juices flowing!

I love linky parties! I am new to blogging so I need all the help I can get to get ‘noticed’! :) I would clink up for sure. And since I check your blog daily I would link up whenever you do it!

  • These all look great but I especially like the table runner.

Bev- I would totally link up at your link parties! (if you decided to do it:) They sound like a lot of work, but it must be worth it! Thanks for stopping by today. I appreciated your comments. I am jazzed about your anthro week coming up! Too much fun:)

Super duper late comment but wanted to chime in…I would definitely link up to any party you were hosting, Bev! And since you have such a loyal following, I would not be the only one. I like the idea that one of the previous commenters said about a themed linky, if you decide not to do a weekly general one (I like the anthro necklace linky idea!).
